The American healthcare system is confusing to many people. Insurance coverage is constantly changing, and the costs for surgical procedures are often difficult to forecast. Increasingly, patients are being left with a greater responsibility for payment of the surgical bill after the insurance payment. We want to assist you in understanding your responsibility for payment of the charges incurred for your surgery.
You will be charged a facility fee for all services provided by Audubon Surgery Center. This fee does not include fees for any of the following services that may be incurred during your stay at our facility, and you will receive separate billings for these services:
If you have health insurance, we will bill your insurance company for the facility fee. If you do not have health insurance or if your surgery is not covered by insurance the facility charges must be paid within 60 days from the date of surgery.
We have entered into contracts with many insurance companies, which will often result in a discount of the billed charges. However, we cannot guarantee that your insurance company will pay any or all of these charges, and you will be responsible for that portion of the allowed charge not paid by your insurance company.
You should receive an explanation of benefits from your insurance company showing how our claim was processed and indicating your responsibility for any balance. You will also receive a statement from our facility reflecting any amounts paid and any discounts or adjustments to your account. Payment of the balance on the statement will typically be due within 60 days from the date of the statement. For your convenience, we accept cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard.
If you are unable to pay the balance on your account as indicated above you will need to make outside financial arrangements as we no longer carry accounts for more than 60 days. One option is to finance your balance with a healthcare services finance company. We are not affiliated with such companies in any way but offer this information as a convenience to our patients to assist them in paying for their surgery. You may be eligible for a no-interest financing plan. Please see the receptionist before you leave if you would like more information or a credit application.
